1-20-10

Come join us tomorrow, Thursday, with a lot of other people that love horses, to support our wild Mustangs! 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the state capital, Sacramento! We hope to see you there. Macho Man was planning on going, but due to the inclement weather, he has decided to call off his visit and let the humans do his hard work instead.

This is the delayed blog... Better late than never?

Tawnee headed out to the vet, it was pouring rain. She had to put the windshield wipers on high speed and it still had a hard time keeping the window clear enough to see through.

Baby was excited and knew that something special was about to happen. She sure is stylish with her front leg haircut.

Soon Baby was in la-la land and her surgery was started. She needed support for her head for the entire surgery.

The first leg was finally completed and the stitches had to be sewn in.

Then it was time to do the other leg. Her surgery progressed very well with no unforeseen complications. She was stable throughout the entire surgery too.

Remember her tippy-toe picture? This is a correctly trimmed hoof, but her contracted tendons would not allow her to stand properly.

After the surgery, she is standing properly. Now all the pressure is off of her toes. She will still need corrective trimming, but she is really on her way to a healthy and happy life.

After the surgery was completed her legs were rebandaged. It is so wonderful to be able to give her the gift of the surgery she so desperately needed.

Baby was soon feeling good enough to head out to her nice warm stall. As soon as the vet gives her OK Baby will be going to her forever home to a wonderful adoptive mommy.

The storm we have had for the last few days has been quite intense at times. Lots of rain and wind! On the way back to the rescue, the wind damage was quite visible as there was a tree in the road.

The gentle river is really getting more fierce. Thankfully, the rescue is up on a hill and is definitely out of the flood zone.

The wind was fierce enough it even blew down the secondary internet antenna. Thankfully, no trees came down at the rescue and no buildings have been damaged.

We received the Share's card donation today, and we cannot thank each and every one of you that faithfully swipe your card each time you buy groceries. $297 was donated to the rescue, just because you swiped your card! Thank you so much! That is equaling out to right about $100 a month, they only send the check once every 3 months. We do have more cards we would be happy to send you if you shop at FoodMax, Lucky's or SavMoore. This is a easy, free way to donate 3% of your grocery money to the rescue. It really does make a huge difference.

Thank you all for your support both financially and emotionally! It really makes a huge difference in the lives of the rescued horses and those that care for them.
